Built on the site of a former orphanage, the Vernelles residence has been welcoming around a hundred housing units for a little over 6 months, organized like a real neighborhood. This is where the “Pop Act” participatory housing social project, twelve new collective housing units with common areas. Here all the tenants share a laundry room, a DIY room and even a guest room for residents who want to receive.

A real place of life where everyone is involved. “ There are more bonds between people, we all know each other, so it’s much easier to live with, I love this principle »Testifies Nadine Polet, one of the residents. This common management of the premises allows tenants to pay less charges. ” The residents are in social housing, so the rent is attractive, for a habitat that is completely different from what can be offered elsewhere »Says Sandrine Cuffel, director of Logeo Seine. A participatory housing project designed with the residents and the architect. ” We all got around the table to build this project together “, adds Nadine Polet.

Initiatives are multiplying throughout the territory. Communities and towns now reserve land for this type of project. A platform has even been launched on the internet by the movement Participatory housing. The site lists all current or future projects in France.
