A 14-year-old teenager died in Lannion in the Côtes-d’Armor on Saturday, November 13 after being injured in the eye by the tip of a fishing rod, France Bleu Breizh Izel reports Tuesday, November 16.

The youth was fatally wounded in the face by a fishing rod, which belonged to comrades who had visited him at his home. They retrieved the object from the garden before going to their friend’s room. For a few minutes, they play with the fishing rod. This is when the tragic accident happened. The end of the cane pierced the victim’s eye to his skull.

The child collapsed on the floor of his bedroom. Immediately taken to Lannion hospital by his mother, he was transferred to Cavale Blanche hospital in Brest. It was there that he died on the night of Saturday 13th to Sunday 14th November.

The victim’s two friends, also aged 14, were interviewed by the Lannion police. An investigation is opened by the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor’s office.
