In Kenya, the code is taught from an early age to students. The digital sector is buoyant in the country, whose capital is nicknamed the “Silicon Savannah”.

In Kenya, pupils of a primary school learn to program on a computer. “We teach them to code, because the world is becoming more and more digital“, says Renice Owino, founder of the association “code with kids”. Computer coding courses are compulsory throughout the country. The teacher, Renice Owino, used to live in a slum. Thanks to her computer knowledge, she managed to to give themselves a new life.

Kenyans wanted around the world

More than a million Kenyans work in the digital sector, particularly in Nairobi, the capital, nicknamed the “Silicon Savannah”. Coworking spaces are flourishing in the city. Young Kenyans are in demand around the world. This digital development is boosting the country’s growth, even in unexpected sectors, such as livestock. Thus, two women have created an application allowing breeders to increase their productivity. Their data is digitized. The Kenyan government plans to invest nearly 500 million euros in the market for new technologies.
