These are the largest demonstrations in Israel since the start of the war on October 7. In Jerusalem, the fourth consecutive rally was organized near the Knesset, the Israeli National Assembly, on Wednesday April 3, the eve of the parliamentary recess. These holidays should not be easy for the deputies of the right-wing and far-right majority since the protest is growing.

Since the beginning of the week, there has been a convergence of struggles between the social movement born from last year’s opposition to justice reform and the supporters of hostage families who no longer believe in the strategy. government warrior will allow them to reunite with their loved ones. Everyone now has the same objective: the fall of Benjamin Netanyahu.

“We create waves until this government falls”

“Elections immediately”, this is the only slogan of these demonstrations which brought together thousands of Israelis like Maï Albini Peri for four days: “My uncle was murdered on October 7. My grandfather was kidnapped. And this government is responsible ! In six months they have done nothing !” Maï Albini Peri is the grandson of Haïm Perri, 80 years old in two weeks and hostage of Hamas for 181 days : “His life depends on these guys. I don’t believe in them and he didn’t have confidence either. And that’s why, in his name, I have to shout for this government to stop go. Because they don’t care if he comes back…”

Benjamin Netanyahu and its most right-wing coalition in the country’s history is accused of continuing the war in Gaza to stay in power, and this is not the only grievance. Ami Dror is one of the pillars of the two previous waves of demonstrations that the Prime Minister has provoked over the last four years : “Today there is pressure from the ultra-Orthodox, international pressure, that of civil society. We are rocking the boat and creating waves until this government falls. Many good people and good countries are trying to save Israel from itself. And we are part of that.”

Next meeting Saturday evening in Tel Aviv, for a new demonstration which will once again bring together opponents of power and families of hostages.
