in Izioum, questions after the discovery of graves by the hundreds

Between the trees, tombs surmounted by summary crosses in Izioum (Ukraine). A total of 443 were identified. In the center is a large hole that serves as a mass grave. The cross on the grave indicates that the bodies are those of Ukrainian soldiers, coming from the morgue. According to investigators, most of these soldiers died in combat, but not only. “The first body bore signs of torture. He had a rope around his neck, he was probably strangled”explains a Ukrainian investigator.

Izioum was the scene of fierce fighting. The Russians seized it last March. In this city and in other liberated localities, the Ukrainians discover torture rooms, there would be a dozen of them. A civilian says he was the victim because his brother is a soldier. “They made me hold two cables connected to an electric generator. The faster it rotated, the stronger the discharge”, he confides. The United Nations says it wants to send a team of investigators to the scene.
