In Ukraine, in Irpin, fighting and missile strikes have made many buildings uninhabitable. The inhabitants themselves take the initiative to rebuild them.

40 families lived in this building in Irpin (Ukraine) before the war. Grenades and missiles fired by the Russians completely destroyed the roof. Today, in the midst of the still blackened debris, new wooden structures are beginning to be erected. The inhabitants, themselves, are at the origin of it.

Estimated cost of the work: 40,000 euros. Robert Serry, former ambassador of the Netherlands in Ukraine has decided to raise funds in his country to help them. “Ukraine is not just fighting, it is rebuilding at the same time”, he points out. According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the Russians destroyed 140,000 houses since the beginning of the war making 3.5 million people homeless.
