Cameras, sound poles, projectors in the middle of the beach of the Old Church. The sand of Barneville-Carteret was used as a film set this Saturday. The team of the film “On the paths of Pierre”, directed by Denis Imbert, is passing through the Channel for its last scenes. This feature film is the adaptation of the autobiographical book of the writer Sylvain Tesson “On the black paths” released in 2016, sold nearly 230,000 copies, with the famous Jean Dujardin as the main actor.

After Avranches and Mont-Saint-Michel on Friday, the film crew is filming on the west coast. In front of the dunes, this intrigued a few tourists and locals. “I wanted to please my niece. She adores Jean Dujardin. We came from Valognes on purpose, after some research”, explains Annick a few meters from the plateau. The dozen curious were however repelled by security. On a shoot it does not laugh, especially when the cameras are on. “We were told we could take a selfie afterwards, that’s okay”, Justine smiles. In the distance it was still possible to make out Jean Dujardin, with walking sticks, at the water’s edge.

A shoot not to everyone’s taste

Frederick, who has a secondary home in Barneville-Carteret, was out for a walk, also intrigued by this shoot. “What scares me a little is that this place was beautiful and a little secret. If we start doing more and more filming, it will be less. The Cotentin is on the rise at the moment. “, he points out. This decor was not chosen by chance. The beach of the Old Church was one of the stages of Sylvain Tesson’s Tour de France, which he describes in his book.

“This is our end of the film. We left Mercantour on September 13. We crossed, we can say, all of France. And so we end here and at the Nez de Jobourg on Monday, explains Arnaud Humann, the general manager. We have an actor who walks alone with his backpack on the sand and he ends up with a few friends. There, it’s a team of about twenty people. We could not be more numerous, considering the thousands of kilometers traveled. The last clap is Monday, then we will have three days of shooting left for flashback images in Paris. “
