On May 26, 1993, in Munich, Marseille became the first French club to win the Champions Clubs Cup. A coronation for history, because OM remains the only French representative to have its name on the list.

On May 26, 1993 in Munich, two years after their defeat against Red Star Belgrade in the final of the Champions Clubs’ Cup at the end of the penalty shootout, OM are again in the final. This time, it is AC Milan which presents itself on the road to the Marseillais. At the end of an undecided match, thanks to a single goal scored by Badsile Boli with a header, Bernard Tapie’s team became the first French team to lift the “big-eared cup”. 30 years after this historic final, relive this evening in pictures.

To face AC Milan, favorites in this final of the European Cup of Champions Clubs, OM coach Raymond Goethals decided to rely on a dense 5-2-3 system. Half an hour into the game, Basile Boli asked for a change because of discomfort in his left thigh.  OM president Bernard Tapie orders the central defender to stay on the pitch.
