IN IMAGES – College students from Ajaccio want to sing their tribute to Samuel Paty with Grand Corps Malade

A vibrant tribute to Samuel Paty was paid this Monday, October 17 at Stilettu College, in Ajaccio. The students presented numerous projects in memory of the history teacher murdered two years ago in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in the Paris region, after presenting caricatures of Muhammad in class. Among the projects presented: the cover of a song by Grand Corps Malade. The students now hope to organize a tribute concert in the presence of the artist.

They were only ten years old on October 16, 2020, when Samuel Paty was assassinated. Two years later
, it is always with children’s words that they remember the drama : “Beheading a professor for explaining history… It’s unfair to have done that for nothing”sighs Thomas. _”It scared us, it touched us. I thought it could affect everyone”continue Lisa-Maria and Ghjovellina.

It is therefore quite natural that the teenagers were seduced by the projects presented by their teachers. Two fourth grade classes have decided to write a slam, on the recovery of the title ladiesfrom Grand Corps Malade. “Please accept this song, sir, as a pledge of respect, consideration”, begin the young people, while their teacher plays the saxophone. “You are Cabu, Charb, Wolinski and Honoré. Where have secularism, equality, fraternity gone? You have been condemned, sacrificed, for your freedom of expression”, continues the text, while the public is in tears at the eye.

The teenagers, between 12 and 14 years old, will now work on other songs. They then hope to be able to perform in Ajaccio at the end of the school year and call on Grand Corps Malade to sing with them.
