On October 25, 2021, an 18-year-old young man was death at work
, on the Lanfains (Côtes-d’Armor) site of the LDC Bretagne company. He had been crushed by a tank of more than 500 kilos, filled with pieces of poultry. A year later, this Saturday, October 29, 2022, his family is organizing a white march to pay tribute to him and request information on the circumstances of the tragedy. The investigation is still ongoing.
The silence of the investigators

A year later, the family does not have much more information on what happened. “We contacted the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the gendarmes, on several occasions, and we had no news.explains Jean-Claude Le Duault, Tom’s dad, with emotion. We don’t know what happened, if there was someone with him. We don’t have the autopsy results. And we couldn’t even get his things back.“The family was nevertheless able to meet the Quintin gendarmes, who explained to them how the legal procedure worked.
“We need information to mourn and also to help other young people who have a job.he continues. So that they don’t accept anything.“The family actually blames LDC Bretagne security flaws. And during the summer, in August, Tom had already had an accident at work in the slaughterhouse. Her ankle had been crushed between a pallet and the machine that lifts her. He had been arrested for three weeks. The family says he was in the same position as during the tragedy in October.
Contacted, the company did not want to respond to these charges. In the press release it sent to us, the management expresses its support for the family and indicates that it is collaborating with the authorities in the framework of the investigation. She also notes that she lends her parking lot for this Saturday’s white march. The appointment is given at 10.30 am in front of the slaughterhouse. The march will start at 11 a.m., heading towards the town hall. The parents of the young man and the mayors of Lanfains and Plaintel, where the family is from, should speak.
