Sheep breeder and rapper, Jean-Benoît Baudens alias “MaNTis” releases a new single entitled “Ici” in which he sells his limousine campaign and the life we lead there. His third album will be released in November 2023.

A festive and friendly atmosphere, surrounded by friends, neighbors and residents of Saint-Jean-Ligoure in Haute-Vienne. Rapper MaNtis’ latest music video, shot at home, touts country life, the one that’s happening “far from the concrete but close to the pastures, in our regions and in our little towns.” With his texts and his music, MaNTis fights against the clichés associated with the rural world.
It seems like nothing happens in the countryside when you’re in town. It was a way of turning things around. To say this is where it’s happening was a way of reversing prejudices.
A song written between two milkings
The song titled Here was written between two milkings because this father is first and foremost a sheep breeder. It is moreover his herd composed of a hundred heads, which often has the scoop of his latest songs. “During the milking, they are used to what I sing, entrust the farmer Do they have a musical ear? I’m not sure, you should ask them.” he says with a smile before starting, pitchfork in hand, the first notes of his new single.
For the music, MaNTis called on a neighbor and friend, an amateur reggae singer and cabinetmaker at the Château de Ligoure. “He sent me the beat that I liked right away, tells Cédric Robert who when he is a singer calls himself CedMan. Within 20 minutes the song was there. I immediately sent him something back, telling him: come by tomorrow.”
MaNTis is not at its first attempt. He released in 2022 a previous album titled PSG (Super Leftist Peasant). This time it is the future of the campaign that he is defending. “I have the impression that this is where we will build tomorrow. With the climate crisis and company, we say to ourselves that finally the urban way of life may have reached its limits.
While waiting for the release of the album next November, MaNTis and CedMan will give a few concerts this summer. The first will take place on July 15 at Saint-Laurent-sur-Gorre in Haute-Vienne.
