In full platinum jubilee of Elizabeth II, Jean des Cars, specialist in the British monarchy publishes a new work “For the queen” (Éditions Perrin) where he draws a portrait, all in privacy, of the one who reigns on the British throne for more than seven decades.
Jean des Cars, biographer, had the idea for the book “For the Queen” after Elizabeth II’s last Christmas speech. “She spoke in the most humanistic way possible to the populations hit by all possible scourges. It was very moving”, explains the historian. He also recalls that she is today the only head of state in office to have known and lived through the Second World War.
“The Queen is in tune with the developments”, specifies Jean des Cars. She accompanies the “Swinging London” of the 60s. It also accompanied fashion. “There is a lot of delicacy in Elizabeth II”, he adds. So what about its flaws? Does she have any? “Necessarily, but she manages to hide them well”says the specialist in the British monarchy.
