The trial of the “pushers” opened Wednesday January 31, in Toulouse. Two men aged 20 and 22 are accused of knocking down cyclists on the roads for fun. They raged in the Save Valley for eight months, causing around a dozen victims, two of whom were seriously injured.

On the departmental roads of Haute-Garonne, the cyclists all had the same anxiety. Not the speed of the cars or the potholes, but a duo of motorists, nicknamed the bike pushers. The procedure was always the same: pursue a cyclist, get close to him, before moving away and knocking him off balance. The attacks took place near Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) towards the Save valley.

12 victims

Twelve victims were recorded in April and December, with similar stories. “They beat me on the helmet, and the one behind, with like a little baton, and he gave two more blows”, confides Jean Brossard, one of the victims. The cyclists had filed a complaint, but none had retained the license plate. The gendarmes therefore investigated, and noticed that telephones were located at the scene of the events: those of two men, aged 22 and 20. They apologized during their trial. They were sentenced to two years in prison, two of which were suspended.
