Since June, employees and elected officials can come to the office with their doggies. An experiment for the well-being of owners and pets. #IlsOntLaSolution
Pixel is a happy Labrador. In recent months, he has been less often alone at home. He regularly accompanies his master, deputy mayor of Grenoble, to the town hall. Its owner also finds his account there. Between two meetings, seeing his pet gives him energy. “It’s a real pleasure. It distresses” recognizes Maxence Alloto. Agents or elected officials, they are five to come to the office with their faithful companion. Martine Villalta, coordinator at the general management of the town hall, takes her Yorkshire, which has very quickly adapted to its new environment. “In the rooms that are open, he goes to say hello and then he comes out. Then, he traces his route and runs to my office. As soon as someone passes, he wants to go and see so I close the door. always happy to have visits and see people “ testifies this employee.
If some private companies accept to welcome the pets of their employees, in the communities, it is rare. The municipality of Grenoble has been carrying out this experiment exclusively with dogs since June. The primary objective of this approach is animal welfare. “A lot of people have adopted animals during confinement. Since face-to-face work has resumed, there has been an increase of over 30% in dropouts.” regrets Sandra Krief, municipal councilor in Grenoble and member of the Animalist Party. This initiative also aims to create links between employees. But there is no question of imposing the presence of animals on those who do not wish it. Dogs and owners are on the first floor. Internal regulations have also been put in place to avoid possible cohabitation problems. “The interest is that it is spreading in the private and the public, that it gives ideas to other municipalities as well” Sandra Krief hopes. In the United Kingdom, the concept tends to develop.
