An apocalyptic landscape. At the beginning of April, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the south of the enclave allowed Gazans to regain what remained of their city after four months of fighting. A new offensive is being prepared.

Come home and find nothing but ruins. Palestinians return to their homes in Khan Younes, in the south of the Gaza enclave. Stunned, women sit on the rubble of their living room. “When they said the road was open, we came and this is what we found”, deplores one of them. Balanced on the rubble, civilians try to save what can be saved. A landscape of apocalypse after four months of fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Another offensive in preparation

Gazans are in despair. “Our memories, our families are destroyed. I couldn’t take anything from the rubble and we fled without taking anything“. These thousands of civilians are returning because the Israeli army has just left the south of the enclave. Their tanks are now outside, on the edge of Gaza. The Israeli Defense Minister says he has dismantled Hamas in Khan Younes , hence this tactical withdrawal. But he adds that he is preparing another offensive.
