On Wednesday October 25, the Head of State announced the arrival of a military ship to support hospitals in Gaza, the Tonnerre. It left the port of Toulon on Thursday October 26. A first plane landed in Egypt. International aid is being organized while Gazans lack everything.
Trucks loaded with medicine and food are on their way to the Gaza Strip, but humanitarian aid is being allowed to trickle in. Since the Hamas attack, only 20 trucks have been able to cross Egypt’s only border crossing. According to the UN, at least 100 trucks per day are needed to meet the needs of 2.4 million Gazans. “If we do not obtain fuel urgently, we will be forced to stop our operations in the Gaza Strip”she says.
France sends a hospital ship
Humanitarian aid transits to Gaza thanks to an agreement between the United States, Israel and Egypt which manages the Rafah gate, the only crossing point. But dozens of trucks remain stuck. This dramatic humanitarian situation concerns the international community. Washington suggests pauses to facilitate aid delivery. The US president and the Israeli prime minister announced a continued flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
France sends a hospital ship, the Tonnerre, to support Gazan hospitals which lack water and electricity. A French plane is due to land on Thursday October 26 in Egypt to deliver medical equipment. Emmanuel Macron announced that several humanitarian operations with Jordan will be implemented. Other countries such as Colombia, the United Kingdom and Russia have pledged to provide aid to Gazans.
