Some French people choose to work at their vacation spot, thanks to the use of telework.

It floats a scent of summer on a breakfast on the terrace in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). A family is spending their holidays here, far from Grenoble (Isère), where they usually live. Mélanie Flohimont-Champeil, the mother, is teleworking for another week. “It’s the best compromise”, she says. At 9 a.m., she drops the children off at the pony club and begins her work day. For her, working during the holidays does not pose any particular problem. His boss also sees no problem in an employee having four weeks of teleworking, before or after his leave.

According to a survey, teleworking on vacation would appeal to 35% of French people. Some tourism professionals have understood this well, and formulate specific offers for teleworkers. Many human resources directors, however, display their skepticism. “What worries me the most in this story is the disappearance of the border between the private world and the professional world. At a time when people are asking for quality of life at work, I am not sure that mixing the two worlds is the common sense of things”comments Benoît Serre, of the National Association of Human Resources Directors.
