Several demonstrations took place in France on Saturday, November 18, in support of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, where the bombings continue. The organizers ask France to play its role in obtaining an immediate ceasefire in the enclave.

Despite the pouring rain, thousands of demonstrators marched along Boulevard Voltaire in Paris on the afternoon of Saturday, November 18. The banners demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The organizers of the rally called on France to play a leading role in achieving this. “Today, we are demonstrating so that France calls and puts itself in a position to organize the return to a just and lasting peace, the only guarantee so that Israelis and Palestinians can each have the right to live in peace and security.“, declared Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT.

Organizers call for “protection of the Palestinian people”

Bertrand Heilbronn, president of the France Palestine Solidarité association, also called for “the immediate ceasefire, the cessation of bombings and forced displacement of the population, the immediate lifting of the blockade, the protection of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank“. Responding to the call of several unions, many left-wing representatives were also present. On an endless list appeared the names of children killed by bombings in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.
