The walls are almost finished. You could almost already smell the refined and delicious smell of hot morning bread. You could almost hear the cracking of a stick that you start on the way, barely turned heels. But the conductor is missing. The town of Locmaria-Plouzané, in Finistère is looking for his new baker. 18 years since the last one left, because of a dilapidated place.
A brand new place
This time the town hall is putting the dishes in the big ones: a brand new premises is in the process of coming out of the ground. A building of 144 m², built on two floors. Mayor Viviane Godebert details the rest: “The premises are on the ground floor. To facilitate the installation, the municipality will acquire the walls. The baker will therefore be a tenant, for a rent of 1,400 euros per month“specifies the elected official.
It remains the responsibility of the craftsman to do the interior fittings.
In addition, Viviane Godebert specifies that subsidies are available to help the future merchant to start his activity: “He could, for example, obtain aid of 7,500 euros. We are here to help him settle in.”slips the mayor.
In the city center
The town hall has been wanting to revitalize the town for several years. The place is in the city center, in front of the butcherand rather well surrounded smiles the chosen one: “We have an ATM, which is also right next to the bakery. We have a florist, a wine cellar, a restaurant, and then a local press café”.
You will have understood that only the baker is missing.
So when we talk about her town, Viviane Godebert has only one thing in mind: to seduce. “We have the advantage of being a coastal town, with 7 kilometers of coastlinesouth-facing beaches and a somewhat exceptional living environment, it must be said”, boasts the one who has chaired the town for twenty years.
A call for projects
The City launched a call for projects, named “Locmaria-Plouzané is looking for its baker”. The premises are available by the end of the year.
To bring in the long-awaited craftsman, the mayor sometimes relies on the commercial argument “In the village, there is a potential of 2,000 people to buy his bread, to buy his cakes…,” Sometimes on the sentimental “Bread is vital, there is always a baguette on a good table. Pastry is a sign of conviviality. The baker is a key figure”confides the chosen one.
The work on the roof should be completed within a month and a half. Until then, a whole municipality is waiting to see its new baker arrive.
