Despite the diplomatic efforts made yesterday, February 12, and the many calls between the leaders and Vladimir Putin, the tension does not fall in the Ukrainian crisis. Moscow continues its divisive strategy by offering Russian passports in the Ukrainian Donbas area.
In the heart of Donetsk (Ukraine), a territory that has terminated Ukraine and calls itself independent, next to the local flag is the Russian flag. On the buildings, advertisements proclaim “we are the Russian Donbas” and at the market, customers pay in Russian rubles. “That’s how it is, now we are closer to Russia”, says a customer. Residents even now have a Russian passport in their possession. “I have just received the passport and I could apply for Russian allowances”said a woman.
By whole bus, people will collect their Russian passport. “When we live here, we need it”, says a woman. Another says “want to go abroad and see the world” what the Russian passport allows him and not that of his country. These buses go to the other side of the border in Russia. The round trip is done during the day, and it does not stop. More than 600,000 residents of Donbass have already obtained Russian passports.
