In a senior residence in Pyrénées-Atlantiques, equipment allows carers to look differently at the elderly people they care for. Report in Orthez.
Equipment to slow down movement, lower eyesight and hearing is being tested in a senior residence in Orthez (Pyrénées-Atlantiques). It lets take 40 years. With the weights, each gesture becomes complicated. Between Anne-Marie, 85-year-old resident, and Charlotte Gibout, carer, it’s the one who spreads her toast faster without breaking it. Anne-Marie wins hands down.
“I think it’s great that young adults can finally realize a little bit how we live”observes the resident. “We realize that in fact it is not bad will, but that it is really the fact [qu’on] can’t, we can’t do it”, explains Charlotte Gibout. The Domitys group has equipped each of its senior residences with complete equipment, so that all employees can experience it.
