Ankara toughens its tone. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared on Saturday November 4 that he was cutting off all contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Netanyahu is no longer someone we can talk to. We have given up on him”, declared the head of state, according to comments reported by the Turkish press. To put words into action, Ankara announced the recall of its ambassador to the Jewish state due to the actions perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Despite a timid warming during the year 2022, with the appointment of ambassadors after a decade of almost frozen relations, the two countries are now torn apart over the war waged by Israel against Hamas.

On X (ex-Twitter), Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced Tuesday October 31 “the massacres of Israel”promising to “maintain a straight and determined position” against military operations in Gaza. A few days earlier, on October 25, the Ankara strongman declared that he was abandoning all his plans to travel to Israel, claiming to have been “abused” by Benjamin Netanyahu.
