The final of the Africa Cup of Nations is played on Sunday 6 February. Who from Egypt or Senegal will win the competition? The Egyptians have already won the title seven times while the Senegalese have lost twice in the final. Is this the end of the curse? In Dakar, we believe in it.

In Dakar, on the morning of Sunday February 6, there is only one thing that matters: the grand final of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) which will be played in the evening. Almost every street in the capital is decorated for the occasion. Residents also got involved with paintings honoring the Teranga Lions, the national team, and countless flags. Chasubles, boubous… At the tailors in the Medina district, yellow, green and red are out of stock.

This cup, the Senegalese are waiting for it. The country has never managed to win the CAN final. So with each of the victories since the start of the competition, the joy only went up a notch. “In the event of victory tonight, we will witness historic scenes of jubilation throughout the country”, assures journalist Nicolas Bertrand, live from Dakar.
