Thursday, June 15, the section “An idea for France” of 13 Hours is interested in a traveling minibus which walks in the Corsican villages to encourage the inhabitants to play sports. On the 13 Heures set, journalist Valérie Heurtel presents other initiatives in rural areas.

In Corsica, that morning, the sports health minibus took the road to the north of the island. At the wheel, there is Fanny Le Courtois, a teacher in adapted physical activities, who goes to the town of Macinaggio-Rogliano (Haute-Corse). Fanny Le Courtois has been coming to the village every week for three months, with all her equipment, to lead a sports session. It begins with a gentle warm-up. Objective of the initiative: fight against a sedentary lifestyle, and reconnect with sport, which some left 50 years ago.

A free activity

The exercises are adapted to each level. The activity is free, financed by the community of Corsica and the Ministries of Health and Sport, in partnership with the local health centre. Nurses promote these preventive actions. On the set of 13 Heures, journalist Valérie Heurtel presents similar initiatives in rural areas. In Ardèche, a bus offers women who live far from the big cities a cardiovascular screening.
