Elio Falcone is a 33 and 45 rpm collector. With his family, he hijacked nearly 80 vinyl covers. Photos published in two books and which, today, are the subject of an exhibition at the Colmar media library.

The exhibition is called Elio’s vinyls. You can see famous album covers reviewed and corrected by Elio Falcone. Funny and crazy photos in which his wife and children play the first or second roles with the means at hand.

For the cover of Cosmo’s Factorythe 5th album of the Californian group Creedence Clearwater Revival released in 1970, “we reproduced the scene with what we had” explains Elio Falcone. A Vespa instead of a motorbike, the family garden as a backdrop. But the main thing is there, the drums and the original poses. On another pastiche cover, the surfboard of the British rock band The Barracudas is made of cardboard. Reproductions certainly sometimes approximate, but so funny. Among the most famous covers, there is in particular that of the album of the Understones, All wrapped up. We see the wife of Elio Falcone adorned with a necklace of sausages and dressed in a bustier made of Parma ham.

In 2018, Elio Falcone released a first book that revisits the covers of his 33 favorite albums. In 2019, he does it again, this time with photos parodying his favorite 45s. And it is no coincidence that the 78 photos from his two books are currently on display at the Colmar media library. After thirty years of interruption, vinyl lovers can once again borrow records. The media library has brought out part of its old collection and bought a few reprints. Thousands of titles sleep in the reserves. A veritable cave of Ali Baba which of course makes Elio Falcone vibrate.

Exposure Elio’s vinylsto be discovered at the Colmar media library until May 21, 2022.
