More than 60 years old, groups from all over the world to make spectators dream, the new edition of the Confolens festival (Charente) offers an eclectic and colorful program until August 15, 2022.
The HK musician and his band the Saltimbanks opened the festivities with a 100,000 volt concert. On the program, the key titles of his three albums Citizen of the World, Modern Times or Starlighters.
Generous, frank and deep songs, HK continues its journey, on the path of joyful and united, free, fraternal and conscious irreverence. He literally electrified the stage of the Confolens festival to the point of inviting the public for a joyful dance shared with all the musicians. “He’s full of love!”, said a spectator with emotion.
This is the first time that the musician from Lille has performed in Confolens. He discovers a festival that suits him with the desire to make up for lost time. “My friends told me that this festival was extraordinary and it’s true, I’m not disappointed”, rejoices HK.
Since 2009, HK has been touring with its Saltimbanks to tell universal stories full of hopes and struggles. Activist, insolent dreamer, he dances and sings against the current to the rhythms of world music. “My personal commitment is to bring people together and make people want to dance together and build things beyond their differences”, explains the singer. A perfect match with the values of the Confolens festival. “This communion he has with the public and this energy, his music and his texts are great, it’s very interesting”, entrusts a spectator.
HK and the Saltimbanks continue their tour on the summer festival route.
The Confolens festival is best known for its programming that highlights folklore from around the world. This year, spotlight on a choir from the Bahamas who performed in the streets of the city and gave a magnificent concert in the church. “We heard them from everywhere, it was exceptional, I had never heard that in my life”, rejoices a spectator.
Founded in 1983, the Bahamas National Youth Choir is world famous. Their songs recount the life of their archipelago. “It’s a country where people love each other, we love what we do, what we eat, we are united, we are friendly, we have compassion and are determined” , reports a chorister.
In English or Creole, the 45 members of the troupe show the extent of their repertoire between African and European sounds like the title Funky Nassau. “It’s a celebration that takes us back to our African roots, it’s about freedom and emancipation but we don’t just sing songs from the 1960s, we also enjoy going back to 1760 and perpetuating our traditions”, explains Dexter Fernander, director of the Bahamas National Youth Choir.
Despite its great international track record, the group is still very close to its audience. “Very moved, I cried all the time”, entrusts a spectator.
The Bahamas National Youth Choir continues its tour in France and in 75 countries around the world.
The Confolens festival still promises great encounters until August 15, 2022 with the Gauvain Sers concert, singing concerts and dance performances from all over the world.
