In Carrières-sur-Seine, raclettes, fondues and mulled wine are served in the cable cars

Imagine taste a raclette or a real Savoyard fondue in the middle of a mountain village, surrounded by fir trees, skis and chairlifts… Well, it’s possible without leaving the Ile de France: in Carrières-sur-Seine, the restaurant A Coté l’Adresse launched the concept mid November. The village can accommodate up to 250 clients per service. Fifty real gondolas have been transformed into restaurant tables. A la carte, mainly products imported from Savoy.

From the alley that leads to the restaurant, change of scenery guaranteed: fake snow and real trees, buttocks and chair lifts. From the security gantry to the red runway signs to the background music, everything is done to make us travel. And from each gondola escapes a good smell of cheese.

Difficult for Stéphanie to realize that she is in the Paris region: “We arrive in the mountains, we are disoriented when we are right next to the house, it’s perfect!”

Doriane can’t get over it either: “When we arrived we thought it was excellent because at the entrance they tell us ‘You can take the green or the black slope’! It’s a great idea, especially here at Carrières.”

And it is precisely for this change of scenery that Aurélie surprised her two children: “It’s a little gift that we gave each other just to travel by staying a little bit there and it’s great.”

Right here, the waiters are dressed as ski instructors ! Gaétan is the village chief: “It’s a bit like a village chief at Club Med! The goal is to take people on vacation with us so there isn’t much to do with a traditional restaurant. It’s a great adventure. “

An adventure designed by Julien Poux, manager of the restaurant A Coté l’Adresse. To carry out this project he joined forces with two friends of the Taninges company in Savoie which recover and transform real gondolas: “We said to ourselves that people do not have all the means to go to the mountains and it is true that this concept gives pleasure to young and old without having to cover 800 kilometers.”

Julien Poux developed the same concept in his other restaurant in Croissy-sur-Seine. As in Carrières-sur-Seine, the ski season will last until mid February. Mountain villages are open from wednesday to sunday. All practical information can be found on their website.
