In Turkey, in the Cappadocia region, the sunset is the lifeblood of an entire population. Tourists from all over the world rush to capture the most beautiful shots.
In Cappadocia (Turkey), as it is time to take its final bow, the sun adorns the landscapes with multiple colors on the Valley of Love and its fairy chimneys. The city of Göreme is the tourist epicenter. On every street corner, agencies all offer the same excursions: horseback or camel rides, as well as quad or Cadillac outings.
Here, sunset is a thriving business. Nuri Bozdemir inherited his agency from his parents. “Out of 400 families in Göreme, 300 have agencies, and 90% of tourists have a sunset excursion. So yes, obviously, business is good.”he explains. The Cappadocia sunset is one of the most popular on social media.
The outing is billed between 25 and 30 euros, while in Turkey, the average salary does not exceed 700 euros per month. The activity is therefore mainly intended for foreign tourists. The latter arrive in entire buses, ready to make the dust fly to capture their sunset photo… without always worrying about the preservation of the valleys. Also, others opt for horseback excursions.
