Electro interactive

Together, we go further. This could be the mantra of Obsolete. This collective which brings together five electro artists has been making the Caen scene dance for a short year.

Behind the group, there are mainly two DJs at work. Toolkit, who initially started playing for fun, manipulates intoxicating melodies and precise kicks to create vibrant atmospheres while maintaining a rave and energetic dynamic. HAS alongside him, Laboutch’, 26 years old who started playing vinyl at a very young age and has been mixing a sharp groove for 12 years now.

For these new generation DJs, there is no question of getting stuck on the decks, interaction with the public is part of the show. “Don’t hesitate to go beyond what you have prepared, take the temperature in the room while you are mixing, raise your head and look at people to see what they are expecting, at that moment we can take liberties”, Laboutch’ promises. “The challenge is to improvise and that’s what also causes stress,” the two DJs say in unison.

In the Obsolète collective, everyone has their own personal universe but it is the energy of the group that moves the project forward. “We all evolve in our different styles and then we share them with each other, that’s our strength”assures Toolkit.

An inclusive festival open to all

For three years, the NDK festival has been highlighting new trends in electronic music on the European scene. For a week, big names rub shoulders with young emerging talents from the electronic scene in five locations in Caen.

So obviously for the Obsolète collective, playing as part of this festival is a great opportunity. “That represents a lot of recognition and an achievement because the Cargö is the biggest stage in Caen so it’s a huge opportunity to show yourself.” confides Laboutch’. During this night, the public will also be able to discover Béatrice M., Laze, Maï-Linh, Marie Montexier, Sedef Adasi, Spray and Subsism.

The desire of the organizers of the NDK Festival is to produce a multifaceted event deployed in the heart of the city of Caen. The festival comes in several forms with diverse, original and inclusive events offered both during the day for young audiences, in the evening and of course at night for great electro nights.
