Brittany does not send any far-right MPs to the National Assembly. In Morbihan, the RN candidate was beaten by an Ensemble MP after the NFP candidate withdrew.
In Morbihan, Antoine Oliviero, candidate of the National Rally, was defeated by the outgoing MP Nicole Le Peih, while he had come out on top in the first round of the legislative elections with a 10-point lead. This defeat is a disappointment for the RN electorate. As in many Breton constituencies, the Republican front worked. The candidate of the presidential majority was elected with 57.56% of the vote, thanks to the withdrawal of the candidate of the New Popular Front.
The far-right candidate’s lack of experience could explain this change in vote. “The RN candidate was a parachute. People quickly realized that he was not going to bring anything to the locality”believes Simon Pestrel, LFI sympathizer. The residents have turned to a local political figure. Nicole Le Peih doubles her score from the first round and knows that this is due to left-wing voters. “I thank them”says the MP (Ensemble) for the 3rd constituency of Morbihan.
