In Finistère, the liquidation on July 23 of a manufacturer established for more than half a century in the department led to the shutdown of around a hundred construction sites.

Sindy Bellour thought she could afford the house of her dreams, 190,000 euros for 100 m². But her building site is abandoned due to the liquidation of the builder Kervran. In total, more than a hundred houses are unfinished and as many owners are overwhelmed. A new builder must be appointed to take over the building site. The law allows for a guarantee in the event of default, but Sindy must also pay a deductible of 10,000 euros.

At the headquarters of the manufacturer, renowned in the region for 50 years, materials are left abandoned. 60 employees have been made redundant. This crisis spares no region of France. According to Damien Hereng, president of the French federation of individual house builders, this is due in particular to “the decline in household purchasing power in real estate”of the order of “roughly 100,000 euros drop in the space of two years”In Brittany, 23 construction companies have filed for bankruptcy in one year, three times more than last year.
