Monday March 28, the section of 13 Hours “An idea for France” presents an Ehpad in which the residents live like in a village, in Guingamp, in Brittany.

In Guingamp (Côtes-d’Armor), an nursing home recreates the atmosphere of a village for its residents. Percussion workshop or sleeping in, the people staying there can choose their programme. “For us, it is the rhythm of the resident in priority, the resident in the center, but never we who impose on the resident”, testifies Caroline Dagorne, caregiver. Café, restaurant and grocery store are present at the Ehpad, designed as a village. The most dependent residents are also involved. “There is a strong bond that will be woven between the resident and the caregiver”explains Corinne Antoine Guillaume, director of the Kersalic residence.

In this Ehpad, the dose of anxiolytics, neuroleptics and antidepressants has been halved in residents. Caregivers are also less absent. Elsewhere in France, a crèche has been set up in a retirement home in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).
