To put an end to illegal garbage dumps, photographic boxes have been deployed in the Drôme. They make it possible to identify offenders, and to verbalize them.
The technical services and the municipal police of Bourg-de-Péage, in the Drôme, would do well without the tour of the municipal waste bins. While the bins are nearby, garbage is placed on the ground. A new weapon now exists to identify offenders: automatic cameras were hidden around the garbage cans.
Thanks to a night flash, the device works “Day and night”, says Gilles Braghini, chief of the municipal police. The definition of the photo also allows “very easily to identify vehicles and people”. The latter indicates having found, on the same site, “a washing machine, small pieces of furniture” or “a mattress”. “The goal is to get people to go to the recycling center, which is free”, comments Nathalie Nieson, mayor (SE) of Bourg-de-Péage.
