Fishermen and farmers marched hand in hand on Saturday March 9 in Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais). They are demanding administrative simplifications and better income.
Around 150 tractors paraded through the streets of Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais) this Saturday March 9. An impressive procession, mixing farmers and fishermen, applauded by local residents. “We must support them fully, they are the ones who feed us and who work almost 24 hours a day”proclaims a local resident.
Same fight between farmers and fishermen
It had been more than twenty years since farmers and fishermen had demonstrated together in the town. “We have the same concerns, the same constraints. We are mainly targeting Brussels”, points out one of the demonstrators. Farmers are still waiting for answers to their problems. As for the fishermen hit hard by Brexit, it is a new cry for help that they are making. Delegations from each profession were received by the sub-prefecture.
