Between social isolation, difficulties with the French language and loss of autonomy, the acclimatization of refugees arriving in France is often difficult, even beyond the obstacle course that can represent the administration, the search for a job or that of a dwelling. It is to offer accompaniment and moral support that the association “Parrains par Mille” invites inhabitants of the Landes to sponsor young refugees and organizes, on June 29, a morning to meet the inhabitants of Biscarosse and Parentis -en-Born.
“Create a lasting relationship”
” To sponsor is to create a relationship between an adult volunteer and a young asylum seeker aged between three and twenty-five.explains Claires Sennes, in charge of the development of “Parrains Par Mille” in the Landes, with simple daily activities to comfort these children who had difficult and chaotic journeys when they arrived in France ». Outdoor activities, walks, museum visits, DIY or gardening… the commitment is intended to be accessible and not very restrictive, but it can be of considerable help for those who benefit from it: “ Give them a breath of fresh air, restore their confidence, to then make choices later in a serene way”concludes Claire Sennes.
