In Belgium, children even sleep in schools to hope to meet… Saint Nicholas. Report from La Louvière.
In La Louvière (Belgium), the children waited for Saint Nicholas all night and even slept in their classroom so as not to miss him. “He is nice”, confides a child. It has already been five years since Saint Nicholas came to wake up the school children so that the tradition continues. “My parents always celebrated Saint Nicholas at home to perpetuate the tradition. It’s really something that is close to my heartthese are our values”specifies the man disguised as Saint-Nicolas.
“We need magic”
And for those arriving from home, being welcomed by Saint-Nicolas is no small thing. Parents are delighted. “I believe that now more than ever, with all the worries of life we need magic especially for our children we want to protect them as they grow up in a world of magic. It is important for us that they do the same thing at school”indicates a mother.
