Visiting Dhaka, Bangladesh, Emmanuel Macron defended, Monday September 11, his “Third Way in the Indo-Pacific”. In this area covering the Indian and Pacific Oceans, tensions are growing between the United States and China. The President of the Republic therefore mentioned a third way “based on respect for the sovereignty and strategic autonomy of our partners”positioning France as a force for proposing“sustainable alternatives”.
The French President also affirmed that he wanted to strengthen cultural exchanges, cooperation in the field of space and wanted to assist Bangladesh in its efforts to adapt to “phenomena of rising waters” and to “extreme weather events” to which he is “particularly vulnerable”.
France wants to “conquer new land”
Emmanuel Macron also mentioned a “commitment” of a Bangladeshi company in favor of a future purchase of ten A350s from the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus during a press conference alongside the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina. “I thank you for the choice of trust for European aeronautics, and the commitment to these ten Airbus A350s is an important point”did he declare.
According to those around him, the two parties “working to finalize a contract” between the local company Biman and Airbus. Biman having until now always purchased American Boeings, this would be a “real breakthrough” and the translation of the French will to “conquer new terrain”according to the French delegation.
