On Sunday, July 7, voters were called to the polls for the legislative elections. At the national level, the NFP came out on top. In Aurillac, residents hope that their vote will be heard.
In the south of Cantal, in the middle of the countryside, the commune of Aurillac is run by the socialists. In this quiet little town, the far right has tripled its score in two years. Marie-Pierre voted for the National Rally for the first time. Today, she is very worried. “I don’t see how we can manage France. I don’t see how we can get from Mélenchon to Macron to make an alliance and form a government that is not possible.”she believes.
Here, in the second round of the legislative elections, 65% of voters voted for the outgoing right-wing MP. One resident reluctantly voted against the National Rally. She has no illusions. “These are unnatural coalitions”she judges. At the national level, the relative majority belongs to the New Popular Front, ahead of the Ensemble group. The RN only comes in 3rd position.
