In France, this spring, there are almost 40 consecutive days above normal for the season, with the consequence in particular of an early drought, in the Rhône-Alpes region and in Ardèche in particular. The first outbreaks of fire have been recorded.

A resumption of fire and a fierce fight against the flames. For more than 24 hours, the Ardèche firefighters have been on the front line. Two fires broke out in the department. Unusual forest fires for May. Firefighters fear a high-risk summer. Fire starts are very early for the season. For the inhabitants, the phenomenon raises questions.

Since January, rainy episodes have been rare, they have fallen by 40% compared to last year. “It’s worrying for the flora, for the fauna also which will suffer, and then for tourist activities it will be complicated”, worries Didier Nury, mayor (SE) of Maurac-en-Vivarais. Dried up rivers and the fear of repeated fires. The prefecture has imposed water restrictions on a whole part of the Ardèche department.
