Alert messages follow one another in emergencies and in hospitals in France. More than a hundred establishments are facing serious difficulties and are limiting their access. This is particularly the case in Arcachon (Gironde), in the middle of the Ascension weekend.

Patients glued to each other, while the staff leaves for the most urgent. In Arcachon (Gironde), emergencies are under pressure. Manon grandgirardnurse, explains that this situation is repeated “nearly” every day, “especially in summer and on long weekends”. Here, an elderly person is suffering. A little further on, a tourist became unwell leaving the beach. “We manage in order of severity, we try to take the most urgent patients quickly and take care of everyone. Afterwards, we sort”, continues the nurse.

This service receives more and more patients, about a hundred a day on average. But many come for minor reasons, which are not emergencies. Patients worried, for example, about a rash on their little girl. “We called our attending physician, who only offered us an appointment on Monday. […]and we were advised to come directly to the emergency room”explains the father.
