A new kind of bar opened its doors in Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, in Allier, in December 2023, the Doggychou bar. This is a space serving special drinks for owners, but also for the dogs themselves.

In Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, a charming rural town bathed by the waters of the Sioule, a new concept of bar has just been born: not a “dog” bar as already exists, but a “for dogs” bar “. The Doggychou bar is a place where dogs are welcomed with something other than a bowl of water. Here they can enjoy cookies, pizzas specially made in a specialized bakery in Italy, and also apple juice or honey.
Rear grooming salon
It all started from the idea of an owner of a grooming salon. Jade Jacob-Vernay, in 2014, opened her salon. But very quickly she realized that the owners had quickly gone around Saint-Pourçain while waiting for their animal. She therefore had the idea of this café for them but also to offer the dogs a moment of rest after their grooming.
A nice idea that could fit into the philosophy of Claire Marin, in her book To be in her place : the characteristic of a place is undoubtedly precisely that it “continues to move, to be moved or to move those who believe they can settle there”.
