Young Maryline was placed as a minor at the medical-educational institute (IME) in Péronnas four years ago. Now over 20 years old, she is moving beyond the framework of caring for disabled children and into that of adults. And the Ain prefecture, due to a lack of proper papers, issued an obligation for him to leave the territory.

Everything happened very quickly, deplores Vincent Guérin, one of his specialized educators who mobilized with his union, Sud Santé Sociaux.“When I arrived on Monday March 18, my colleagues informed me that there was a place available, that of Marylinehe explains. There are no exit plans for her. We have nothing at all. And there, they explain to me that there was an OQTF and that as a result, on Friday, she was released from the establishment.”

An appeal was filed against the prefecture’s decision

He adds : “She is a young girl who has an average mental disability, who has quite little autonomy. And there, from one day to the next, I found it very violent that there was no mobilization, that “We can therefore apply such a measure. I admit that, as a medico-social professional, it absolutely stunned me.”

The association which manages the institute, while saying it was scandalized by the situation, declared that it had simply complied with the law by sending the young girl back since the prefecture had requested her removal from the territory. The expulsion of the young Ivorian is not yet effective. The association which takes care of its supervision has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Ain prefecture.
