Concern remains in Bordeaux. Victim of serious head trauma at the start of the Bordeaux-Guingamp match in Ligue 2 on Saturday, Bordeaux striker Alberth Elis was plunged into a protective artificial coma. The Girondins communicated on Sunday February 25 for the first time on this subject, specifying that it was “impossible to comment on the vital and functional prognosis” of their player.
The club also expects “not being able to communicate new decisive information for a few days”. The 28-year-old Honduran striker was injured in the 34th second of the match, following a collision with Breton defender Donatien Gomis. Alberth Elis was evacuated eight minutes later on a stretcher.
“Taken care of by the medical team, he was quickly transferred to the CHU Pellegrin in Bordeaux where a surgical procedure was carried out during the night”, specifies the Bordeaux club. Many French clubs or players, including Kylian Mbappé, have supported the attacker on social networks. The Girondins de Bordeaux also announced the opening of a psychological unit to support club employees.
