Impaired abilities: he falls asleep after hitting a median with his car

A man was woken up during his nap and arrested by Sherbrooke police on Saturday after hitting a median in the Plaza de l’Ouest parking lot.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, a citizen called the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) to report that a vehicle had just struck a median with her vehicle. Thanks to a good description of the car, the police found the suspect in the parking lot of the Plaza de l’Ouest, on Bourque Boulevard, the SPS announced Saturday in a press release.

To arrest the 45-year-old man, the police officers had to take him out of Morpheus’ arms to finally find that he was heavily intoxicated.

The man was therefore arrested for driving while impaired by drugs, possession of a weapon and drug trafficking. Following the arrest, a loaded handgun (pistol) and drugs were found in the vehicle.

The man, well known to the police, remained in custody on Saturday evening and will appear during the day on Sunday on charges of driving while impaired by drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and several breaches of probation.
