Imminent Threat Alert | The wanted armed suspect was arrested in La Doré

(La Doré) A possibly armed suspect who was traveling on foot was the subject of an operation by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in La Doré, in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, on Saturday afternoon.



The individual was finally located and subdued by the police, the SQ said on Twitter shortly before 6 p.m. The suspect was met later in the evening by investigators from the SQ’s Major Crimes Investigation Service. The investigation is continuing.

The individual had been spotted in the vicinity of Lac Élaine, sector of the Trenche River, in the municipality located in the MRC of Domaine-du-Roy.

The SQ asked people in the early afternoon to avoid the area and not approach the suspect, citing an “imminent threat”.

The police department added that the “elderly man in his late 50s […] would be armed with a long weapon.

The Quebec Ministry of Public Security issued an alert at 1:50 p.m. for an armed threat in the West Branch Road area.

“Police are investigating an armed and dangerous suspect,” the government wrote in its message.

Earlier around 11:00 a.m., the police received a call concerning a man injured “possibly by firearm” in the area of ​​Chemin de la Branche Ouest.

The victim was transported to a hospital “in critical but stable condition”. The SQ determined that at least one shot was fired.

The SQ issued the imminent threat alert since the validated information suggested that the suspect was still in the area.
