The contours of the immigration bill are emerging. The government wants to create a residence permit for jobs in tension. The measure would be aimed at undocumented workers already present in the national territory.

On a construction site in Seine-Saint-Denis, Wednesday November 2, the machinesbusy for the Olympic Games, which will take place in 18 months. But the work is progressing too slowly for the taste of the site managers. It is indeed missing arms. To find labour, the government wants to create a residence permit for occupations in tension. The aim is to regularize immigrant employees in sectors that are struggling to recruit.

A proposal hailed by Stéphane Dupuis, Managing Director at Dubrac TP. “There are a lot of young migrants and undocumented people who are on the doorstep of our companies, who are often very motivated people. The establishment of such a system by the government would be a great opportunity to facilitate their regularization quickly”explains the manager. The employers’ unions, like the Medef, support the government’s idea. Today, several sectors claim to be in tension, such as construction, hotels, restaurants or agricultural work.
