Refugees are still trying to cross the English Channel. This weekend of November 12, another 972 people left the French coast to reach Great Britain. All this under the gaze of a fisherman, near Calais. Here is his testimony.

Reaching Great Britain at the risk of his life. On the morning of Sunday November 13, dozens of migrants attempted to cross the English Channel. A fisherman thus filmed these scenes. The attempted immigration took place at dawn. The smugglers would have made an appointment with the migrants on a beach via social networks. In fact they make calls on Tik Tok and you can buy a place like that. The boat has a place, it gives a GPS point and it goes along the coast and picks up the migrant who has paid“, details Olivier Folcke, fisherman.

In a few minutes, women, children and men, with or without life jackets, find themselves offshore. Some would have been thrown into the water voluntarily by smugglers to lighten the weight of the inflatable boats. When we got them out of the water, it was very complicated because they had no strength in their wrists (…) they were paralyzed by the cold“, continues Olivier Folcke. Since last Friday, this is the third attempt at a crossing observed by the authorities. 140 castaways were rescued.
