With this plan, immigrant professionals will be better supported “from selection to integration” in the recognition of their skills, says the Minister. He gave the example of a nurse who would like to have her skills recognized.
“She will benefit from much more flexible refresher training. There are going to be a lot more. She will also benefit from financial assistance of $ 500 per week. She will also benefit from having a restrictive permit that could allow her to do her job under certain conditions or to do work that is related to her training. “
Present alongside the Minister, Gyslaine Desrosiers, President of the Interprofessional Council of Quebec, mentioned that the dropout rate was 34% among immigrants wishing to have their skills recognized. “Collectively, we can and must do better. “
