The France Télévisions teams went to meet those who saw their driving license suspended after an alcohol or narcotics test. It is a medical commission which must give the green light and decide on their aptitude to get back behind the wheel.
In the basement of the prefecture of the North, follow one another in a place of similar stories: suspensions of driving licenses for alcohol level, or consumption of cannabis while driving. The role of the two doctors of the medical commission of the driving license is to assess whether the drivers are fit to return to their car. On the program, blood pressure, clinical examinations, balance test, and if necessary blood test.
They want to see if it was an addiction or a misstep. “Our goal is not to give an additional sanction, (…) it is to make driving safer and to prevent the situation of recidivism”, explains Doctor Philippe Lauwick, approved “driving license” doctor and member of the National Road Safety Council.
