Justice: immersion in the court of Versailles
Everyday justice, listening to conflicts and face-to-face meetings between magistrates and defendants punctuate the daily life of the Versailles court (Yvelines).
The files and the defendants follow one another at the Versailles court (Yvelines). Just like civil cases, which are those which take up the most space within the judicial establishment. One of them concerns a denunciation made by a wife towards her husband following physical and psychological violence. The latter was tried and convicted in early 2023 for non-payment of alimony and harassment towards his wife. The decision came a few weeks later. The father no longer has the right to see the child and the mother now has exclusive parental authority.
The court on the front line
When society goes up in flames like it did almost a year ago following the death of young Nahel, the court is on the front line. A young adult is on trial for using fireworks. His lawyer speaks up and defends her young client. The latter will receive an eight-month suspended sentence and a fine of 400 euros.
